Bicester travelled to Henley and won 4-0 following inspired Drewitt performance

Henley 0 - 4 Bicester (Will Hartley 2, Jonny Reid, Rob Blackie)

Bicester returned to the promotion places on Saturday after a very solid 4-0 win away at a dangerous Henley side.

With Henley known to be a tricky team to play against and with Bicester without a number of regular players, it was a nervous team which began this important match. Bicester got into their rhythm quickly however and soon tested the Henley goalkeeper. Will Hartley then gave Bicester the lead after man-of-the-match Adam Drewitt burst down the byline and squared for the every improving teenager to apply the finish. Henley then came back into the game and dominated the rest of the first half, winning numerous short corners which Nathan Elliott and his defence were able to deal with capably to give Bicester a slender lead at half-time.

As the second half began, Bicester increased their tempo and began to break through and create chances more consistently. Stu Goodacre and Stu Lock on the flanks managed to find balls down the line easily and Pete Bennett, making his first team debut, performed admirably in the middle of the park alongside Jordan Chester and Rob Blackie.

Adam Drewitt soon helped Bicester get a second goal and a cushion as he won the ball from the Henley left back and fed in Jonny Reid who was able to square the ball to Hartley who cooly slotted the ball under the onrushing goalkeeper. Bicester then soon had a third as some quick thinking from Rob Blackie saw him get the ball to Jonny Reid at the top of the D from a long corner. Reid managed to turn onto his back-hand and strike the ball crisply into the bottom corner for his first goal for a few months!

Blackie then finished off the game with a superb drag-flick to give Bicester a comfortable win after a less than comfortable first half. This result puts Bicester back up into second in the table and they welcome South Berkshire 1s for a big game at The Cooper School next week.
