Bicester 3 - 2 OMT
Bicester 3 2 OMT (Dave Sutcliffe, Ben Kirk 2)
Bicester began the second half of the season with a ground out victory over a persistent OMT side at a cold and wet Cooper School on Saturday to keep pace with the leaders.
Despite leading 3-0 at one point, Bicester let their North London opponents back into the match and had to hold on in the final moments to secure the 3 points.
Dave Sutcliffe opened the scoring after twenty minutes when he turned in a powerful cross from the impressive Jordan Chester. Ben Kirk then sparked into life when he finished off a move he started himself just inside the opposition half. A powerful run from Kirk and a delightful one-two with Sutcliffe gave Kirk a clear sight on goal and h e finished powerfully past the OMT goalkeeper to double the advantage.
Kirk then got his second and Bicester's third after some good play down the right from Stu Lock.
At the other end of the pitch, Dan Round, Alex Wilson and Stu Goodacre defended well and goalkeeper Nick Harding pulled off a number of outstanding saves. OMT got one goal back before the break and then scored near the end of the second half to make it a nervous few minutes for Bicester. They were able to hold on though and secure another three points to keep it very tight at the top of MBBO Division 1.
