Bicester Mens 1s beat Leighton Buzzard 8-3 in final friendly

Bicester 8 -3 Leighton Buzzard (David Delamore-Sutcliffe 3, Jonny Reid 2, Ian Oak, James Webb, Alex Wilson)

Bicester got their first win of pre season in a comprehensive fashion against Leighton Buzzard on Saturday.

A David Delamore-Sutcliffe hat trick and a man of the match performance from Benjamin Kirk saw Bicester score eight to convincingly win a week out from the real games commencing.

It was not that plane sailing for the hosts all the way through however. Having gone a goal up through Sutcliffe, Bicester conceded next from a short corner. Sutcliffe's second and a first ever goal from Bicester from James Webb (a powerful, accurate finish from the top of the D) saw Bicester pull ahead but they allowed Buzzard back into it before halftime leaving it 3-2.

The second half saw Bicester continue to create chances as the industrious Rob Blackie and Alex Wilson bossed the midfield, Ian Oak and Stuart Lock provided good impetus in midfield and Kirk continued to create chances up front. Buzzard however managed to equalise before Bicester could begin to open up a good lead. Sutcliffe got his third before a lovely ball from Jack Boydon released Jonny Reid, who combined well with Ian Oak to give Reid an easy opportunity to score. Oak himself got on the scoresheet after some good work by Ben Kirk and Reid managed to get a second after some strong work from Cj Birtles won the ball and released him into the D. In between this glut of goals Jordan Chester managed to somehow hit the post from a short corner routine and even more surprisingly Alex Wilson scored with his first flick of the season to press his case for a regular birth at the top. Nick Harding looked solid in goal and made some good saves to close out the game with it finishing 8-3 to Bicester.

Daniel Round also played.

Bicester now head to OMT for their first game of the league after a solid pre season.
