U14's at the Rover Festival
By Shaun Foote
Both teams do themselves proud. But the A team go out to a shuffle.
The U14's took 3 teams to the Rover Festival on Sunday afternoon. 2 girls teams and 1 boys team.
All 3 teams played some excellent hockey. The boys came 4th no mean feat when they played against some exceptional players especially the eventually winners Cheltenham (top 8 in the country).
The girls A team lost in the quarter finals through the dreaded penalty shuffles.
You would think that with those results I would be happy enough but the girls B team gave me the biggest smile. Game 1 I think we all thought it could be a long festival but the improvements the girls made game on game were huge. I think they and I really enjoyed the progress made in 3 short games.
Thank you to all the players especially the U12's that stepped up.
And thank you to the parents for supporting in the rain. Especially Steve managing and umpiring the boys and team Willis/Sammons for coaching the girls A team.
