Bicester U12 Girls finished 3rd at the County In2Hockey tournament at Bloxham School, sharing the place with Oxford Hawks 2.
The girls finished 2nd in their pool of 5 teams, with 2 victories over Witney (3-0) and Banbury (6-0), and 2 draws with Hawks 2 (2-2) and Wallingford 1 (1-1). This set them up for a hard fought Semi Final against Hawks 1, where Bicester unfortunately weren't able to finish a number of goal scoring chances whereas a more clinical Hawks side took their chances to take a 2-0 victory.
The 3rd/4th place game was a re-match against the Hawks 2's team that the girls had faced during the pool stage. Again it was a close fought affair. The girls dug deep to try and find the elusive winning goal, but although the scoreline was different this time, it ended up a draw again, at 1-1. The teams agreed to share 3rd place honours, rather than go to a penalty shootout to decide ranking.
Well done girls for a fantastic season, you've made so much progress as a group and shown great tenacity, playing the game with real enthusiasm and determination. Most importantly you've had a lot of fun in the process, keep it up!
