Henry brace secures victory over I&B

Bicester ladies 4s v Iver and Burnham ladies 1s. Match report

Our game started in the rain but our spirits were high and we were determined for a win.
We started off slow with them having a shot on goal. A great save from Hannah Brown meant that we were still 0-0. We soon found our footing and after a short counter and about 5 shots on goal we finally had another shot on goal. Nicki Henry saw the shot and she took it and she scored a cracking goal. However Iver and Burnham were soon on the counter attack and they found themselves with a short corner. With all our defender in there hannibali mask determined not to end up with a fractured cheek bone. We charged out of the goal at them scaring them silly. Emma Graham nearly then went running up the pitch with her mask still on!
Our half time team talk was filled with tactics and we were given oranges supplied to us by the opposition although we were all very disappointed that Charley Lewis had left the jelly babies in the car.
As the second half started we were ready for all they could throw at us. With most of the play around there D you could see that had had enough. They came at us guns blazing but Ness Honour, Emma Graham and Sarah Peake were ready for them. With them being very solid in defence they couldn't get past us. Amy Crown had made herself free and was unmarked and when she got ball she ran like the wind to the other end of the pitch. Nicki Henry was waiting for her. And it was two on one with the goal keeper, with the goal keeper confused Henry lifted the ball and scored again! By this point there players were rather tired but they didn't give up, with the ball not getting any where near any of the Ds. One of the umpires started to pick on Sally Fox as Sally Fox's shirt didn't have a number on and so the umpire sent her off even though the other umpire had said at the being of the game that it was fine. When Sally Fox came back on the pitch with a number one taped to her back it only took about thirty seconds for the tape to blow off! For the rest of game they tried there hardest to get to our D but we weren't having any of it. The game ended 2-0 to us with Nicki Henry as Dame of the Game and Jess Skellern as captains player. It was a cracking game and we enjoyed ourselves and we all had a laugh. We can't wait to play them again in the new year.
