Bicester Ladies 2 vs Kidlington Ladies 1A

The first 10 minutes of this match saw Bicester dominate possession and it seemed as though we would be in contention to win our first points of the season. However, Kidlington soon settled into their game and an even first half saw opportunities for both teams.
Captain's Player Maddie Smith was excellent in midfield, managing some lovely distribution of the ball whilst competing with the challenges of the 'Sahara' of Kidlington's pitch! Fantastic running off the ball by Lilla Squire - making her much welcome debut this season - and Laura Alexander saw Kidlington's well seasoned defence stretched, but surviving.
Swift and strong on the counter-attack, Kidlington took the lead, and with the first half coming to an end, Bicester were denied an incredible deflected goal from the stick of Kelly Frater by an unbelievable save of which Maddie Hinch would have been proud!
Into the second half and the game went from end to end with Kidlington taking their chances and Bicester missing their killer touch in front of goal. Step up Captain Determined and Dame of the Game Kirsty McKenna to show us how it's done with a persistent goal, taking advantage of some sloppy Kidlington defending from a short corner. 3-1 and game on we thought, but with Kidlington upping their attack again, 2 further goals ended up in the back of our net.
Bicester did not stop running, chasing down the ball, making spectacular and at times very illegal tackles - Jodie Lewis please stand up - but we could not break down the Kidlington defence. Lilla Squire even added a bit of off-pitch wrestling to the game plan, an interesting strategy that unfortunately did not pay off, and the score remained 5-1 at the final whistle.
