U10B finished third of five teams in Pool 1 at the Oxford Hockey Club Junior Festival.
Following a difficult first game losing to the eventual first place team 0-4 they settled in the second game and demonstrated some good hockey to post their first points with a 1-1- draw from a Daniel Rathband goal.
The third game was the highlight of the day with a 2 -0 win and the best hockey the team played. With James Lyon showing great skills in through midfield he opened the scoring. Faye Scott made it two toward the end of the game. Excellent supporting play and use of the wings by Ollie Thompson helped to open up the opposition defence to provide the opportunities
The final game was tougher again and a 0- 2 loss resulted. The first few minutes saw solid defensive play from Olivia Barrow but the opposition managed to score early. The game moved into the opposition half for a while but Joshua Tipping and Thomas Sames couldn't find the net despite getting in behind the opposition. Opposition surged forward again and despite the best efforts of Poppy Forrest she was unable to prevent them scoring again to seal the win.
With the B team consisting primarily of the younger players from the U10 squad they showed great hockey skills and potential, at the same time demostrating improvement from the previous festivals.
Team selection has not been published for this fixture yet.
