A scrappy game left Bicester 2-0 down against Amersham + Chalfont
With the full team back together, albeit including a very tired trio with post-holiday blues, the ladies headed off to Amersham to try to grab 3 more points.
The game started strong with end to end play. A well-executed short corner from Faye provided a great goal but unfortunately it was deemed too high (debatable) and the umpire kept the score line at 0-0. Much to Bicester's frustration, a short corner from A+C a few minutes later resulted in a goal despite the clear obstruction offence.
Continued hard play ensued and shortly before half time Hannah took a deflected ball to the nose which left us slightly shaken but Abbie stepped up and provided excellent skill and strength in the central position.
As the minutes ticked on in the second half, Bicester fell foul to fatigue (darn that 5am bedtime) and the game was scrappy from both sides. A late second half goal from A+C helped secure the score line at 2-0. The midfield worked hard throughout with excellent teamwork and distribution from Faye, Shannon, Bea and Beth but we were unable to finish with the finesse we have shown previously.
Positives were good communication and support between all players and hopefully with a good nights sleep we can rise back up to form for next week.
Final score: Amersham + Chalfont 2 - 0 Bicester
Dame of the Game: Faye Walters
Tit of the Team: Ali McGregor
