Bicester U-14 Girls 3 vs 0 Henley U-14 Girls

Bicester took control of this game from the start and did not allow Henley to settle. Charlotte Cannon was instrumental in these early exchanges making powerful runs down the right wing and causing the Henley defence great difficulty. Opportunities to open the scoring soon came Bicester’s way as the midfield provided telling passes that crossed the “scoring box” inside the D but unfortunately at this stage the Bicester forwards were not quick enough to get in position or anticipate the pass. Eventually this pressure paid off. Captain Chole Ranson took a quick self pass in the 23m area to Hayley Beck rifled the ball into the D and Chelsea Hegarty-Swain was on hand to tip the ball past the stranded Henley keeper.

Henley responded with a counter attack but Emily Hill marshalling the defence ensured Bicester regained possession. Bicester once again laid siege to the Henley goal; Hayley Beck and Charlotte English kept the keeper on her toes with a number of shots until Amy Olah doubled the lead with a powerful shot from close range.

Henley then had an opportunity to reduce the deficit when a defence error presented the Henley forward with a 1 vs 1 situation but keeper Rachel Long held her ground to deny Henley a gilt edged chance.

In second half Henley reorganised and came out stronger and on two occasions got behind the Bicester defence but again was denied by Long. The Bicester defence then settled, Isabelle Honour at right back began to link up with Grace Julier who was now beginning to look the playmaker as she continually ran the Henley defence. Julier set up Olah, whose shot was cleared out of the D to Ranson who rounded a defender, stepped into the D and fired the ball home pass the unsighted keeper for a well deserved goal based on her captain’s performance. Bicester continued to look for an equaliser and late on Henley had another chance to deny Long a clean sheet but she was determined that it was not going to be in this game.
