Men's 1's Match Reports

06/12/08 Bicester 1 Vs Gerrards Cross 4-3

With the worst two results not just this season by probably several seasons behind them, Bicester 1st XI hoped the travelling opposition would play the game and get lost or turn up with 7 men and a cow.

A prompt meeting time of 12 o'clock high noon had been set and all turned up except for mr prompt arrival himself (we have heard the rumors) Dominic Partridge who arrived at some point before the game started and Ian 'I swear my shirt was here earlier' Oak having to return home to fetch it..

New skipper St John's Roger with appropriate folder held lovingly under his arm was keen to start his reign on a high note, so Bicester worked tactics and formation in the changing room using OHP's, projects and a board with metal tokens. With the wiff of rotting bibs lingering, Bicester started hoping to better the performances that have left them with a goal difference of around -769 give or take a few. In true Bicester fashon they went a goal down after the defence of Smith, Locke, Goodacre and Round struggled to cope with the new defencive system. Roger has promised them a full match video replay with a pause button and laser pen for next weeks upgrade to match pre-amble to sort this out. With the defence still confused the midfield of Dobbins, Yale, Oak and Roger sparked viciously into life resulting in some jaw dropping one touch hockey resulting with the Ruffalo Express thundering the ball first time into the bottom left hand corner. Guiness dont do hockey goals but if they did that would be one of them.

With Bicester now level money was exchanging hands on the side lines that they would now implode. But Partridge added to his onion bag action with a Wayne Rooney style goal and an offensive short corner were Dobbins was given more time than it takes most women to get ready left Bicester 3-1 up at half time.

The half team talk was all about spectator satisfaction and Bicester decided that they had to make things more interesting. To this end Smith got his feet in the way one to many times resulting in a P'flick and Goodacre produced an exlent pass straight to the centre forward who leveled it at 3 a piece. With the crowd now in ruptures the tiring Bicester midfield struggled to make an impresson to finnish off the game. Forwards Partridge and the human niggle Mike Bywater tried thier best to force the defence into mistakes but nothing came. Then a miss pass from the oppo midfield resulted in Smith picking up the ball in space down the right hand side roasting around the defence. The Gerrards Cross lumber jack of a centre back was not impressed leaving him kebabed and in two seperate pieces in the D having got no where near the ball. Dobbins moved the pieces of his former team mate away from the P spot and cooly slotted away the flick and win the game for Bicester. We only Bloody won!!!!!!

15/11/08 Bicester 1 Vs Leighton Buzzard 1 Result 2-2

On a some what dryer Saturday afternoon than the week before Bicester 1st team set off on the eventful journey to Milton Keynes. The trip alone confused some players, including Lewis Allen who was clearly finding playing Leighton Buzzard in MK a little difficult to comprehend; "Its Leon school not Vandyke". Added to numerous attempts from Tomtom (now known as Dorris) to lose half the team or send them on a sight seeing tour of Mk, the team finally arrived 3 days and 17 hours early to which the captains respose was: "plenty of time to warm up lads".

Welcoming back Tim Yale from parenting duties as well as Captain Adam Buxey, Ian Oak and Stu Goodacre from what can only be described as the Bournemouth adventure. Also returning was Luke 'Six million dollar man' Smith from a secret experiment that rebuilt his jaw. Knowing that they had a good chance of winning this game Bicester wanted to start strong and keep going. Both sides shared opening possesion but it was Bicester showing the most potential with forwards Smith and Allen both getting close to opening the scoring. On one occasion the Leighton Sweeper was left completely stranded as Ian Oak rounded him and disappeared at Warp 5.2.....only to see half of the much younger Bicester team follow at similar speeds. It was this advantage that gave Bicester the edge but a detemined Leighton keeper kept them honest and the scores level. Then it was the Leighton forwards who livened up hitting the post twice and keeping the defence of Buxey, Goodacre, Round and Sullivan busy toward the end of the first half.

Half time 0-0 with Bicester ruing their luck not to be at least a few goals up, the venaruble John Roger stepped on to the pitch held together with 3 bandages 7 plasters and 9 tubes of deep heat to become the link between the hard working midfield and the forwards. After a shaky restart it was Leighton and not Bicester who kept pushing the advantage. Another near miss and post rattle came and went and the defence breathed once again. Slowly the Bicester Midfield of Dobbins, Ruff, Oak and Yale creaked into life and pushed play up the other end resulting in a Short corner which was dispatched with venom by Dobbins. GOAL!!!!!!!! Bicester finally one up, heads raised and hopes were high for a second. However, this would not be bicester if it were easy and sure enough a missed tackle and good play from leighton fowards left the score 1 apiece. But bicester kept pushing, so much so that Roger was forced to come off having pushed his ailing body a meter to far and to contemplate which specialist he needed to see that had not been seen the previous week. With the pace of Bicester once again proving difficult it was Buxey from the back that parted the Leighton players and just as he crossed into the 25 the Sniper that only ever seems to take out Buxey steaded his aim and took him out. "But I was over half way!!". Another anxious 15 minutes passed and finally Allen linked up with Ruff to send Bicester in front once again.

Lets hold on longer this time lads and sure enough with only 3 minutes left Leighton finished the scoring with what can only be described as the luckest goal seen this season. It crept over the line having taken a deflection leaving keeper 'builtproof' Darren going the wrong way . And on that bomb shell Bicester left MK and not Leighton Buzzard dissapointed and ruing another 2 points lost. To describe the game in one word: UNLUCKY

8/11/08   Bicester Men’s 1XI 1 - Sunbury 1XI 4

A make shift team due to 4 key players not been available drew up to a rain flooded Sunbury pitch. The umpires decided to play the match even though there were numerous large puddles on the surface which stopped the ball in it’s tracks. Bicester started slowly, with pressure from Sunbury resulting in a conversion of a short corner to put them one goal up. Bicester began to find their feet and pulled the score level through a well converted short corner routine by Wayne Dobson. The score remained level to half time. The second half again remained a close fought, physical match. Unfortunately Bicester who battled hard throughout the match let in 2 more goals from short corner routines and were final undone by a 4th goal for Sunbury, which made the result far more flattering than it should of been. Man of the match Goalkeeper Darren Moore.

21/9/08  Bicester I Vs Wallingford I Result 1-2 loss

Bicester started well against a physical Walliford team. Both sides trading opportunities at goal without success and the score remained 0-0 at half time. Wallingford went ahead after a well worked move, Bicester then replied with a great finish from Lewis Allen. Unfortunately Wallingford won the game, nicking the draw away from Bicester in the dying minutes.

14/9/08  Men's 1st XI against City of Oxford 1st XI, Bicester lost 2-1.

A pre season friendly was played at St. Gregs School in Oxford. Bicester started brightly with some excellent possesion creating numerous chances at the Oxford goal. Jonathan Roger came close hitting the post after a well worked move. Another excellent move resulted in a Bicester short corner where an Ian Oak drag flick also hit the post. Against the run of play City scored with a fine peice of indivual play from the centre forward sloting the ball past goalkeeper Darren Moore. City quickly scored a 2nd when a Bicester attack broke down and gave them a one on one with the keeper.

Bicester rallied after half time, with numerous chances been created, Dan Round, Jonathan Roger & Lewis Allen all had efforts saved by the City keeper. Eventually Dominic Partridge slotted home one of the many chances after a well worked move down the right wing. Adam Buxey the new first team captain said "It was a shame we lost after putting on such a good show, there was some excellent hockey played and hope that we keep the momentum and excellent team spirit against Wallingford this coming weekend"

Men's 2's Match Reports

25/10/08 BICESTER MEN’S 2ND XI 2  - WITNEY MEN’S 2ND XI  2

Bicester maintained their unbeaten home league form in a hard fought match which saw them fight back from 2 nil down.

Witney had taken the lead after a defensive mix up with less than 5 minutes gone and despite a number penalty corners to Bicester, Witney double their lead from a penalty corner of their own.

The home side got back into the game in the second half with a goal from Man of the Match, Dougald Humphries who looped a ball from the edge of the Witney D over the keeper's head.

After more pressure and penalty corners, Gary Kemp forced the ball over the line to bring the scores level.

Bicester were the stronger side in the second half but were unable to snatch victory, even when Witney had their keeper sent off in the final 5 minutes.

11/10/08  BICESTER MENS 2ND XI 7 HARROW MEN’S 2ND XI 2

Bicester Mens 2's second league game of the season saw them recorded their first win since last October in a thumping victory against Harrow.

Despite an edging start which saw Harrow take the lead, Bicester settled down to play some good hockey and 20 minutes in Roy Carter scored his first of three from a penalty corner strike quickly followed up just minutes later when Mike Bywater slotted home an Alan Edwards cross.

Harrow came back at the home side before half time and it was only some good saves from keeper Gary Brock that kept Bicester ahead.

The tie was effectively over when just 1 minute after the break, Carter scored his second from an Alan Shatford cross at the back post.

The goals then flooded as Bicester maintained their pressure with John Sullivan reacting first to a rebounded shot from the Harrow keeper and Gary Kemp converted a well taken penalty flick after a Harrow foot on the line.

Carter then finished off his hat-trick in style with another well placed shot from a penalty corner to cap a well deserved Man of the Match performance.

Edwards wrapped up the Bicester scoring before Harrow scored their second of the game with five minutes left to go.

21/9/08

BICESTER MEN’S II  2 – WALLINGFORD MEN’S II  5

Bicester were forced to field a weakened side with 8 regular players missing due to injury and work commitments. In addition to this they played a Wallingford side currently in the league above them therefore they expected a tough test from the outset.

Mattie Hucker and Pete Cross were on target for Bicester and even though the overall result was against them, Bicester will focus on the positive aspects of their game and believe that with a full strength squad, playing against opposition in their own league, they have the potential to do well when the league matches start this weekend.

14/9/08   BICESTER MEN’S 2ND XI 3   -   WINDSOR MEN’S 1ST XI  4

Bicester's second friendly game of the season was always going to be a tough test against their visitors from the league above them, however they put on another fine display to follow on from the first game against Kettering.

It was the home side that took the lead midway through the first half after a smart move down the right allowed Ralph Palmer to put the ball in past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

Windsor took the play forward and despite some good saves from Bicester Man of the Match, keeper Jez Taylor, they equalised and kept up the pressure until half time.

Bicester regained some composure in the second half and started to pass the ball around the team but it was Windsor who scored next with a well placed goal from a penalty corner and they rocked Bicester just minutes later by scoring on the break to make it 3-1.

It was a new, never-say-die attitude from the home side that kept them in the game, with Roy Carter and Mattie Hucker helping the fight back in the centre of the park and they were soon rewarded with a penalty corner goal from Stuart Lock.

It was a Bicester penalty corner gone wrong that let the away side re-establish the lead when another quick break up field caught the defence out and despite a foul block of the ball that saw Captain, Chris Allen lucky to stay on the pitch, good advantage by the umpire saw Windsor slot the loose ball away.

Still not willing to give in, Lock scored his second of the game from another penalty corner when he flicked a rebounded shot from Carter into the right hand side of the net, however Bicester were unable to find an equaliser before the final whistle.

Men's 3's Match Reports

15/11/08  BICESTER MEN’S 3RD XI  5  - OLD MERCHANT TAYLORS MEN’S 3RD XI  0

This week the opposition forfeited the game so Bicester won by default with an automatic 5 -0 win.

25/10/08  EASTCOTE MEN’S 7TH XI  6   -   BICESTER MEN’S 3RD XI  1

A strong performance by Bicester ended in vain and the final score did not reflect the performance of the team. Bicester were always on the attack when in possession, threatening Eastcote's defence and this persistence ended in a goal for Greg Pearson.

There were some great performances by man of the match Kenny Johnston and Sathay Vidivale, who took a ball to the chest trying to stop a shot on goal.

All but one of Eastcote’s goals came from open play, however keeper Gary Brock conceded a penalty flick after spectacularly wiping out a member of the opposition in an effort to clear the ball from his area, which Eastcote converted.

11/10/08  BRACKNELL MEN’S 2ND XI 3 - BICESTER MEN’S 4TH XI 1

Bicester started well with veteran Graham Harman striking the first blow. Then due to some silly mistakes, Bicester  were down 3 - 1 by the end of the first half. The away team held strong by not conceding in the second half and carried on creating more opportunities to try to come back. But in spite of all efforts, especially by man of the match Joe Johnston, the score remained unchanged

4/10/08  BICESTER MEN’S III  1 – BOYNE HILL  1

Bicester couldn't have hoped for a better performance for their first league match of the season which ended in a one all draw against Boyne Hill. The home side felt hard done by not to come away with a victory as a beautiful drag flick by Gary Kemp was disallowed. From the word go Bicester were in control with good communication and strong play - the side that had been seen in previous matches had finally settled into a tight unit. Bicester went down one nil to a very unfortunate goal, but regrouped to come back in the second half with a goal from Pete Winspear, and continued to battle until the end. The man of the match this week was awarded to James Palmer.

28/9/08 BICESTER MEN’S III  3 – OXFORD HAWKS III  3

Bicester put on a great show play, with lessons learned from the previous weeks’ defeats and the team displayed some excellent passing and team work. The three goals were scored by the youth of the team. Ed Hull was in a good position to strike cleanly for both of his goals and the other goal came from Luke Collett. This showed the promise of these two young men for the future and their performance was awarded with a joint man of the match award. The result left the team buoyant with high hopes for the season.

21/9/08 BICESTER MEN’S III  1 – WALLINGFORD MEN’S III  14

Another week meant another huge learning curve with a disappointing loss for Bicester. But with a new team it takes time for the dust to settle and for the team to learn to play confidently as a unit.

Although Bicester lost, there were elements of brilliant hockey and teamwork keeping up the team’s spirit. A good goal from Danny Johnson in the second half was against the run of play and Bicester continued to battle on until the end despite being outclassed overall.

14/9/08  WINDSOR MEN’S 2ND XI  8 – BICESTER MEN’S 3RD XI  5

The 3rds couldn't have asked for better weather for their first friendly of the year. There was a good mixture of new faces and old, with new captain James Palmer taking over from Chris Page. Although it was a disappointing loss for the start of the season it was a well battled game showing off the talent of the up coming youth in the club, with junior player Luke Collett setting up a goal for Bicester veteran Pete Winspear.

The team’s first hat-trick of the season which came from two short corners and some beautiful open play was scored by Danny Johnson. Also there was a goal from another veteran Steve Birtles which came from a beautifully taken short corner. The end result was 8 - 5 to Windsor, howwever this score reflects the determination of a new team to keep fighting until the final whistle and shows promise for a new season.

Men's 4's Match Reports

11/10/08  BICESTER MEN’S 4TH XI 3  -  ROVER OXFORD HAMSTERS 6

Bicester 4th let a two goal lead slip from their grasp as a 5 goal second half flurry from Rover Oxford saw them lose 6-3.
Bicester's scorers were Peter English and Shaun Varney from open play and Chris Birch from a penalty corner.

Ladies 1's Match Reports

15/11/08  BICESTER LADIES 1ST XI  0 -  WALLINGFORD 2ND XI  1

Bicester Ladies 1st IX lost 0-1 to Wallingford Ladies in a hard fought game on Saturday. Bicester played with determination and drive from the pushback with Charlie Prescott and Jan Southam attacking quickly on the right, but a well coordinated Wallingford took Bicester by surprise within the first 10 minutes to score the only goal of the match. The second half saw Bicester constantly seeking the equalising goal with numerous short corners and attacks, instigated by Susie Miller and Lilla Venning, being blocked by the Wallingford Keeper. Dame of the Game was award to Amy Jackson for her superb switching across the pitch to set up Hannah Newell and Charlotte Cochrane on the break, but frustratingly with no goal coming, Bicester were resigned to a game well played against an opposition that took advantage of an opportunity that came their way.

Ladies 2's Match Reports

15-11-08  BICESTER LADIES 2ND XI  3 -  READING LADIES 3RD XI  5

Having dropped their first points of the season in their previous game, Bicester faced top of the league Reading, the only team still with maximum points for the season. Bicester were pressed back from the start and in the 3rd minute Reading took advantage of having greater numbers in the area, scoring first.

Bicester then began to fight back, with their midfield and attack surging forward and midway through the half the home team levelled with Ros Govier pouncing on a cross from Nikki McSweeney. Not long afterwards, Sandra Satterly put Bicester ahead following a penalty corner.

Before the break, Reading had equalised, looping the ball over the keeper and defender Tracy Coz was unlucky not to prevent this going over the line. They continued this momentum in the second half, winning numerous penalty corners and eventually this pressure led to a third goal. Sandra Satterly immediately pulled this back with a superb individual goal directly from the restart and Bicester were hopeful of taking at least a point from the game. Unfortunately this was not to be as Reading went on to score a further 2 goals, one from open play and the other from a penalty flick.

25-10-08  BICESTER LADIES 2ND XI 10  - AMERSHAM & CHALFONT  0

Bicester trounced 4th in the league Amersham in a very one sided game. A new formation introduced by Captain, Louisa Morris, gave Bicester the space and attacking options up front and the midfield and forwards took the opportunity to show off their skill and hammer home the advantage.

Sandra Satterly began the scoring in the fifth minute and, shortly after a shot by Roz Govier was saved by the keeper, Satterly pounced to make it 2 by the 8th minute. Three more goals followed from Nikki McSweeney, Roz Govier and Anne Marie Kemp so that Bicester were 5-0 up by the break.

Morris demanded the same from Bicester in the second half and the team did not disappoint. 1 goal from Liz Coulter and 4 more from Satterly allowed Bicester to hit double figures, although some fantastic saves from the Amersham keeper meant that the home side were unlucky not to score many more.

The votes for man of the match were split evenly between Coulter for her tireless work in midfield and Satterly for her ability to create goals from all angles and opportunities.

11-10-08  WEST WITNEY LADIES 3RD XI 0 - BICESTER LADIES 3RD XI 5

Bicester piled on the pressure from the start against a youthful West Witney 3rd team. Their first goal cam within 5 minutes of the start with some skilful individual play, culminating in a superb strike by Sandra Satterly. Two minutes later, a cross from Roz Govier set up Satterly to tap in her second.

Witney rallied and pressed Bicester back, however their individual skill was not enough to create any real scoring opportunities for the home team.

Bicester were strong in midfield and used their squad rotation to keep fresh legs on the pitch at all times. As theyr began to push forward once more, an impressive passing manoeuvre began in midfield and led to Satterly wrapping up her hat-trick in the 23rd minute of the game. Before the half was over, Sky Tagliaferro had scored a 4th for the away team.

The win was settled with the only goal of the second half. A penalty flick was conceded as a Witney defender cleared off the line with a foot. This was converted by Satterly for her 4th of the game, leaving Bicester sitting top of Division 3 with 3 wins out of 3.

4/10/08  BICESTER LADIES II  3 – HARLOW 0

Bicester continued their winning ways with a well fought win against a feisty Harlow and High Wycombe side. The home side were quick to settle as they scored within 2 minutes of the start. The team’s current top scorer, Sandra Satterly, added to her already impressive tally this season with the first goal and by the fourth minute had struck again to leave the opposition slightly deflated.

Bicester’s third and final goal was scored in the eleventh minute by Ros Govier, hovever the contest was by no means over. The away side won several penalty corners in a row, yet these opportunities were continually closed down by Man of the Match Laura Pickering, and Harlow were unable to capitalise on this pressure.

The battle continued into the second half with the first cards of the season being awarded. Unaware of a previous warning given to all players by the Umpire, Sky Tagliaferro attempted to play the ball in a crowded attacking area above head height and was shown a yellow card for dangerous play. Not long afterwards, a member of the Harlow team was lucky to escape with just a yellow, given for general dissent through out the game and pushing a Bicester player. Both players were suspended from the game for 10 minutes.

This result leaves Bicester sitting second on goal difference in Trysports Three Counties League Division 3.

28/9/08  BICESTER LADIES II  4 – WALLINGFORD III  1

Bicester showed signs of nerves in their first league match of the season, with their usual open attacking play being interrupted by a well organised Wallingford side.

The game began well, with Bicester winning a penalty corner within the opening few minutes, however Wallingford were quick to attack on the break and their forward strength meant the Bicester defence had to mark players closely to keep them out of the game.

The home side were the first to score with Sandra Satterley scoring directly from a penalty corner. She was also on hand to convert the second, leaving the home side 2-0 up at the break.

Both sides continued to attack in turn. Wallingford split the Bicester defence with a clever through ball, leaving their left-winger on her own in front of goal and able to beat keeper Louisa Morris with a convincing strike. Bicester then began to retaliate as man of the Match Sky Tagliaferro showed some superb skill on the right wing, yet her cross was too quick for the other forwards to react to. This pressure continued and Wallingford were forced to concede a penalty flick, which was cleverly converted by Satterley to complete her hat-trick.

Bicester’s memorable final goal came from midfielder Yvonne Jackson as she looped the ball over several defenders and the keeper with a neat reverse flick. The win will give newly promoted Bicester the belief that they can finish high in Division 3 this season.

21/9/08  BICESTER LADIES II  5 – CITY OF OXFORD LADIES III  2

Bicester faced their toughest test yet in their final pre-season friendly before the start of the league matches this weekend (27th September).

It was a game of two distinct halves, in the first of which City gained the upper hand. Midway through the first half a shot on goal was saved by Bicester keeper Louisa Morris, however this was pounced upon by City’s left winger who lifted this over Morris and past defender Laura Pickering on the line. Not long afterwards, City scored again leaving Bicester in unfamiliar territory, 2-0 down at the half way point.

Bicester’s fortunes soon turned as the half time team talk by Captain Louisa Morris lifted the team’s spirit and spurred them into action. Liz Coulter, showing renewed vigour, began to drive the team forward and was correctly placed to strike a loose ball into the goal soon after the second half began.

Bicester’s next 2 goals came from Man of the Match Sky Tagliaferro, both from close range and these were followed by a fourth from centre forward Nicky McSweeney. City, however, kept up the pressure and won four penalty corners in the second half. They were unable to convert these due to some good saves and some near misses and Bicester rode their luck a little. However, the momentum was with Bicester, and as they went on to attack, a shot from Yvonne Jackson was saved and Tagliaferro followed up to complete her hat trick, securing the victory for Bicester.

14/9/08    BICESTER LADIES’ 2ND XI  6 -  MILTON KEYNES 2A XI  0.

Bicester kept up their winning ways in their second game of the season to produce a solid display against a team currently in the league above them. Some early pressure was rewarded when Lucy McGregor was in the right place by the post to convert the first goal. Bicester then kept attacking for the majority of the first half and just after the half hour Sandra Satterley scored Bicester's second from open play.

The second half saw Milton Keynes determined to fight back, however Bicester had resolved not to let their energy levels drop and kept pushing forward. The midfield worked extremely hard, testing their early season fitness and their persistence paid off with 8 second half penalty corners being won. The strength of the Bicester attack meant that goalkeeper and captain, Louisa Morris, was rarely tested throughout the game and the defence were able to push forward, helping to keep Milton Keynes in their own half of the pitch.

Scoring began in the second half, as in the first, with Lucy Mcregor pouncing on a strong cross across the face of the goal from Sandra Satterley. Satterley, as Division 4’s top scorer last season kept up the momentum and scored a hat trick in the final 15 minutes of the game to ensure that Bicester came away with a decisive victory.

Ladies 3's Match reports

15/11/08   BICESTER LADIES 3RD XI  5  - AMERSHAM AND CHALFONT LADIES 5TH XI  1

Bicester Ladies 3s ended their losing streak on Saturday with a 5-1 win against Amersham.  An early goal from Julie Giles from a penalty corner helped to give the team a head start and was quickly followed with two goals from Laura Giles.  Amersham pulled one back before half time.  During the second half Becki Garrett scored and after five attempts, Katie Johnson managed to score her first goal for the Ladies!

The whole squad of 16 players played very well as a team and it was difficult to decide on the man-of-the-match.  In the end there were two young players who were chosen as joint favourites, Rachael Hucker and Ellie Rosier, who both had an excellent game

28/9/08  BICESTER LADIES III  2 – AYLESBURY III  1

Bicester Ladies 3s were determined to win their first game of the season and managed to do so with a 2-1 victory over Aylesbury. The return of Sam Smith helped organise Clare Flower and Harriet Reynolds in defence and the appearance of Ellie Rosier and Mia Riley on the right hand side of the pitch worked really well with both juniors having great games.

The first goal was scored by Julie Giles from a corner - fed in by Laura Giles.  The second goal was a combined effort from Sheryl Philpott and Becky Garrett with Philpott just getting the final touch!  The mid field efforts of Sarah and Stacey Barclay helped the 3s to play a really focused game with the Captain, Fiona Boyer, acting as the lynchpin as always.

Man of the match was another tough decision but Becky Garrett got the vote.

21/9/08   BANBURY LADIES 1V  5 – BICESTER LADIES III  1

Bicester Ladies 3s have another new line-up for this season boosted by a few old hands!  They played their second friendly of the season against Banbury - who are a league above them - and lost, although the score of 5-1 certainly did not reflect the quality of the game.  Julie Giles scored the only goal, although several near misses from Lorna Edwards and Laura Giles would have evened up the score.  Man of the Match ws awarded to Lorna Edwards (U16) and the very promising work from our other junior players, Harriet Reynolds, Rachel Hucker and Katie Johnson should help us to enjoy a successful season.
